Donald Trump has an artificial intelligence professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and has spoken to him on multiple occasions, according to a report from the Daily Beast.
Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Dr. Sebastian Thrun is a prominent AI researcher, author, and lecturer at UC Berkeley, where he is also a professor of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Thrun, who has written several books on the topic of artificial intelligences, has been a frequent guest at Trump’s campaign events, and recently held a meeting with Trump at Trump Tower, according the Daily Post.
Trump has also spoken to Dr. Steven Pinker, author of The Better Angels of Our Nature, on multiple other occasions.
In an interview with ABC News last month, Trump said he would have no problem signing on with Pinker’s “big book,” and that he would “like to see him on a panel.”
Trump has been an outspoken proponent of the creation of artificial intelligent machines, including the creation and deployment of artificial neural networks, which have been used in the past to create a variety of products, including video game bots.
The President also made headlines earlier this year when he tweeted a quote from the author of the popular book, “Artificial Intelligence: A Brief History.”
“I think I would like to see [him] on a group, I think I will be interested,” Trump said.
